Fountains Abbey – choose Terrafirma cantilever parasols.

The dedicated team at SHADEmakers assisted Emily at Fountains Abbey, a National Trust property, in selecting a suitable cantilever parasol to replace their broken ones. Despite the challenges of working with a historical site, we provided a solution that met their needs.

With the Abbey ruins nearing 900 years old, our commitment to preserving its historical integrity was unwavering. Our Terrafirma 3.0x4.0 metre timber and marine stainless side post parasols were designed to harmonise with its historical surroundings, enhancing the beauty of the ancient site.

With Oak prevalent at the Abbey, we were asked to handcraft the Terrafirma side post masts from the same OAK instead of our standard Walnut (African Sapele).

Our fabrication team assisted in modifying their existing in-ground parasol anchors to avoid further cost and disruption to the ancient terrace.

Our UK team tailored the canopies from premium European acrylics in a light, bright Pearl Mist colour. This colour was chosen to complement the natural stone of the Abbey ruins, enhancing the overall aesthetic appeal.
